Residential property is the UK’s most important asset class: it’s the roof over our heads, and the majority of our wealth as a nation.

However, it’s increasingly difficult for individuals to be a part of this market in ways that work for them. From first home savers struggling to get their foot on the property ladder, to investors facing increasing taxation and hassles of direct ownership, it has been clear for many years that the property market needs to be more flexible. We started Bricklane to make property investment open to everyone.

The Bricklane platform enables people to come together and invest in expertly chosen homes, earning property returns, without the hassles or huge sums required to invest in property directly. Investing in property using Bricklane is tax-efficient and intends to pass on the returns from each geographically-focussed property portfolio to investors, without the distortion of equity markets. Anyone can invest through the Bricklane platform directly, or through their financial adviser.

We select properties for both portfolios using Compass, our proprietary in-house data analytics platform. Our property acquisition strategy is guided by an Investment Advisory Group of industry experts. Alongside the platform for retail investors, we also use our residential property expertise and capabilities for institutional solutions, providing inflation-linked income from diversified real assets.

At the same time, we strongly believe in improving the rental market for renters. From three year contracts, to capped rent rises, and not charging tenant fees, we want Bricklane tenants to feel at home in their rental property.

We’re fortunate to be backed by some of the country’s best recognised brands including Zoopla and JamJar Investments, which is run by the founders of Innocent. We’ve also assembled a panel of leading suppliers including Grant Thornton and Allsop, who audit and value our funds respectively.

We have ambitious plans for the future, and will continue to use technological and financial innovation to make property returns accessible to everyone.

Our commitment

Helping tenants feel at home

Renters should feel at home. Happy tenants stay longer, which works well for everyone. Bricklane tenancies are for three years as standard, but allow tenants to leave sooner if they want to. We have also capped rent rises inside this period to inflation.

Our tenants don’t pay admin fees, and didn’t before a government ban was proposed. In conjunction with our partner Touchstone, we make sure that our tenants are well looked after, and never wait more than 24 hours for a response.
